How the Avendo Fee Field Guide is built
This guide calculates fees with one published formula, uses market figures only from named third-party sources, and describes Avendo only with facts Avendo states about its own service.
The Avendo Fee Field Guide is written and published by Avendo. It is not an independent review. This page explains exactly how its numbers, comparisons and recommendations are formed, so you can check any figure yourself.
How are the fee estimates calculated?
Every estimate uses the same formula: monthly sales times the percentage rate, plus the number of transactions times the per-transaction fee, plus fixed monthly fees. Transactions equal monthly sales divided by the average sale. The effective rate is total fees divided by sales.
Where the market numbers come from
Market figures come only from these published pages, credited wherever they appear:
- NerdWallet, Credit Card Processing Fees: A 2026 Guide for Businesses
- CO by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, How to Calculate Credit Card Processing Fees Accurately
- Stored, Card Payment Fee Calculator (UK figures)
- Clearly Payments, How to Lower Your Credit Card Processing Fees in 2026
Figures keep their original ranges and conditions. A UK rate is never presented as a US rate, and no published number is presented as Avendo's own.
How comparisons are judged
Every option in a comparison is described with the same kinds of facts: how the fee is set, the published example or rate, the channel it applies to, and who it tends to suit. Avendo may appear in these tables because it publishes the guide, but it is never described as cheaper or better on any point that has not been published. Competitors are described only with neutral facts from published pages.
What the estimates leave out
Estimates assume every sale is charged the same rate. They do not include refunds, chargebacks, card mix, currency conversion or taxes. Treat every result as a planning estimate, not a quote and not a financial or legal decision. For a binding price, ask the provider directly.
How Avendo is paid
Avendo does not bill or charge merchants directly. Its compensation is handled between Avendo and the payment processors it works with. Readers should keep this in mind when reading any section that describes Avendo's service.
How often is this guide updated?
Each page shows the date it was last updated. When a source publishes new figures, the affected pages and the credit card processing rates and fees calculator presets are refreshed together and the date changes only when content changes.
Questions merchants ask
How accurate is a processing fee calculator?
A fee calculator gives an estimate, not a quote. It applies the rate you enter evenly to every sale, while real statements vary by card type, sales channel and refunds. Use your actual effective rate from recent statements for the closest match, and treat the result as a planning figure rather than a financial decision.
How do I calculate payment processing fees?
Multiply your monthly card sales by the percentage rate, then add the per-transaction fee multiplied by your number of transactions, then add any fixed monthly fees. Divide the total by your card sales for your effective rate. For example, $10,000 at 2.6% plus 10 cents across 250 sales is $260 plus $25, or $285.
What is an effective rate?
Your effective rate is your total processing fees divided by your total card sales, shown as a percentage. It folds percentage fees, per-transaction fees and monthly fees into one number, which makes it the fairest way to compare two offers. The calculator on this site's home page works it out from your own figures.
How much does Avendo cost?
Avendo does not publish a price on its homepage because it does not bill or charge merchants directly. Its compensation is handled between Avendo and payment processors, and your processing fees come from the processor that handles each transaction. To see what routing could mean for your volume, contact Avendo through the contact page at avendo.tech.
Is Avendo PCI compliant?
Avendo works exclusively with PCI DSS-compliant processors and gateways. PCI DSS is the card industry's data security standard, maintained by the PCI Security Standards Council, and it sets requirements for handling cardholder data. Ask Avendo directly how compliance responsibilities are shared for your particular setup.
